After many years of reading books about Croatia (as proofreaders and translators for academia, research and tourism in English and Croatian languages) we realised that it can be somewhat of a headache trying to find out about all the books that are written in English about Croatia itself. Although there are a number offered by major online suppliers, if you want to dig a little deeper on a specific subject then it can start to feel as though you are engaging in a major research project. But there are so many books about Croatia available. There are many small publishing houses in Croatia who are publishing books in English, yet these books often don’t see the light of day because English language speakers don’t know about them.
It is our aim to try and rectify this by offering a web site that is dedicated to reviews about books about Croatia that are written in English. So if you are after a guide book about Croatia, a book written by a major literary figure in Croatia, a book to help polish-up on your Croatian language skills, or a historical account about a particular place in Croatia, then read on!
One point about the reviews we offer: they are not critical. This is for the simple reason that whilst we might think that a particular book about Croatia is excellent or just good doorstop material, someone else, of course, may feel differently. You can choose the subject matters from the menu on the left. We try to supply all the relevant details regarding the books, including ISBN numbers and direct links to the publishers.
